27th December 2009 - Version 2.4 of the NuVu Query Suite released

NuVu Pty Ltd are proud to announce the release of Version 2.4 of the NuVu Query Suite. After over 8 months of intensive development and testing the 2.4 thin-client version is now available. The thin-client version of the software allows queries to be opened across WAN and Internet connections at speeds approaching a local client connection. Database performance has been further improved, thus allowing real-time access to live data from remote sites (for example the beach using a 3G wireless connection) without noticable degradation of service.

Port Forwarding has been implemented with this version, effectively allowing the Query product to be implemented so that only a single open port is required between the remote clients (Internet/WAN/LAN) and the back-end Repository and Progress Database servers. Further, the messages that are transmitted are compressed using zlib compression (zip) and can be optionally encrypted with 128 bit encryption.

Another notable change is the ability for a design user to open multiple NuVu Designer windows at the same time (a feature that was previously restricted to a single instance on a single desktop PC). Reports back from our beta testers is that this feature enhances the design experience significantly.

A new 'log viewer' tool has also been released - allowing the viewing of any log file (or text file for that matter). The tool will auto-refresh the contents of the associated log/text file when changes are detected to it, provides searching capabilities, and also the ability to hide non-relevant rows within the file, and color-code the rows that are going to be shown within the viewer.

There are many other less significant changes to this version of the NuVu Query Suite - all changes can be viewed here

1st July 2009 - Version 2.3 of the NuVu Query Suite released

NuVu Pty Ltd are proud to announce the release of Version 2.3 of the NuVu Query Suite. Most notable in this release is the introduction of the NuVu Query Dashboard. The Dashboard allows multiple queries to be shown on a single dashboard container. RSS Feeds may also be added as objects to the container. Queries that are shown both as a chart and grid are automatically hyper-linked - so clicking on a piece of a pie chart will automatically reposition to the associated row on the grid.

The Dashboard is totally customizable (per user), including the ability to define bitmaps, colors, font characteristics and other settings for the container as a whole, as well as other customization on the objects contained with the Dashboard.

1st February 2009 - Version 2.1 of the NuVu Query Suite released

NuVu Pty Ltd are proud to announce the release of Version 2.1 of the NuVu Query Suite. Most notable in this release is the totally re-engineered internal report designer tool that allows users to easily create and customise reports from any defined query. The report designer interface uses "report banding" technology (similar to that found in other leading BI products).

The powerful charting that was available on the query grid has now been extended to the reports that are produced from the query tool itself. In addition, the charting now allows the user to map the chart against the detail rows (the only choice in previous versions) as well as any grouped total level in the query.

Client-side sorting and grouping of calculated fields is now fully supported in this release.

This version introduces a silent database lookup facility - useful for retrieving runtime settings for the query - for example, retrieve the company name from a supplied company id - and display that on the report or grid.

A new 'wrap' property for each field of the query is now available. Ticking this option will allow the field to wrap over multiple lines, both on the displayed grid(s), as well as on the generated reports.

24th March 2008 - Version 1.5 of the NuVu Query Suite released

NuVu Pty Ltd has released a substantial upgrade to the NuVu Query Suite. Most notable in this release is the ability to define conditional lookups against the database, as well as the scheduling and execution of queries at pre-selected times and days.

The conditional lookup facility provides the user with the ability to define lookups that are based on previous lookups when executing queries. A simple example is a tranditional branch, customer, order enquiry. A lookup can be defined that allows the user to select a branch (by branch name), then a secondary lookup will allow the user to select a customer that is linked to the selected branch (again by name), and then a third conditional lookup could allow the user to select an order from the selected customer.

The NuVu Query Scheduler allows any defined query to be run at any specific time and date (similar to the Windows Scheduled Tasks). Each scheduled task can be directed to any supported destination (Email, Fax, XML, XLS, CSV, PDF etc), and can in addition be emailed to multiple clients (either as a link or with the results attached to the email).

24th March 2008 - Version 4.5 of the NuVu Reporting Suite released

NuVu Pty Ltd has released a substantial upgrade to the NuVu Reporting Suite. Most notable in this release is the introduction of integrated Charting into the product. The charting allows for the production of vertical or horizontal bar charts as well as pie charts - with many properties to fine tune the appearance of the chart at run-time.

The other major feature of this release is the enhancement of the PDF generation within the product. All previous restrictions are now elimated. These include ability to render vertical text to the PDF (vertical up, vertical down), ability to render upside-down text, ability to embed true-type fonts inside the PDF, and ability to attach URLs (hot-links) inside the PDF document.

Other notable features of this release include the increase of the available triggers from 15 to 30, introduction of the Microsoft Fax Engine to deliver faxes, new barcode variants, more control over the textual appearance of text-boxes, ability to load graphics at run-time, and a host of other smaller features and bug fixes.

15th July 2007 - Version 1.1 of the NuVu Query Suite released

NuVu Pty Ltd is very proud and excited to release the NuVu Query Suite Version 1.1 into the marketplace. The NuVu Query suite gives the user the ability to interrogate the underlying PROGRESS database and display results in a related set of grids. Results can be exported into Excel, CSV, XML or directly into a dynamically generated NuVu report.

The built-in database repository allows for tables/fields to be renamed into "friendly" names, and redundant tables/fields can also be completely removed. Custom table lookups are also easily created for use in any query.

30th July 2005 - Version 4.2 of NuVu Reporting Suite released

A revolutionary piece of software that allows users of old style Legacy applications to easily transform basic, dull looking text-based reports into smart, graphics rich, and professional documents has just been made even better.

NuVu Reporting Suite Version 4.2 has just been released to the market and it includes some brilliant new features that make this already attractive tool a must-have for any company that's mindful of its business image.

Version 4.2's new features include allowing attachments to be attached to emails, auto blind copy every email, fax any Windows document, direct output of report contents to formatted Excel spreadsheet, save files in PDF format from the NuVu viewer and allow flexible totalling of fields in the report.

The new features add to what is already an exciting and increasingly essential business tool in a world where the quality of reporting documents is viewed as representative of a company's standard of professionalism.

Not only does NuVu enable businesses to create professional every day business documents such as purchase orders, statements and invoices, it also includes a built-in fax server and can utilise existing e-mail applications to deliver those documents automatically to multiple destinations (Report Bursting).

Documents can be personalised with the inclusion of company logos, bitmaps, lines, rectangles and text, replacing the need for expensive pre-printed paper.

NuVu is aimed at Independent Software Vendors (ISV) whose text-based applications will benefit considerably with the ability to produce presentation-quality documents and reports for clients using Legacy applications.

"It's the perfect solution for professional reports and standard business forms, including those forms that would normally require the purchase of pre-printed stationary" said Sterland Software's Michael Van Dartel.

Bob Webb, systems consultant for Perth-based ISV BMIS, said NuVu had proved invaluable to clients who had tailor-made Legacy applications and could not justify the often prohibitive cost of totally changing their systems. "The results not only say a lot about a company's professionalism but NuVu can also mean massive gains in productivity," he said. "We did an analysis for one of our clients who wanted monthly fax and e-mail availability with their system and estimated they could realise $30,000-$40,000 productivity gains a year".
